Ketchikan Alaska Tours: Alaska Tours 2012

Ketchikan Alaska is known as the “Salmon Capital of the World” and for good reasons. People have flocked to Ketchikan for decades in order to sample the tremendous runs of salmon that return to the area every summer. Still true today, Ketchikan is the jumping off point for many anglers every summer. Local guides and lodges cater to the arriving fishermen in such a fashion to make the area one of the top fishing destination in the state. But don't think that fishing is all there is to this seaside town.

Within walking of the docks you find Ketchikan Creek where the historic walk of Creek Street is open to all for a free stroll into the local past.

Ketchikan is also the home to the world's largest collection of standing totem poles. These totem poles can be seen at three major locations close to town: the Totem Heritage Center, Totem Bight State Park, and the City of Saxman.
